The Jewel Through a Looking Glass
Life Is Not About Dyrk’s Comfort
The Jewel is a fun juvenile story your children or grandchildren will enjoy. It moiled up from a juvenile rift in my brain. Following I give you an entirely free peek into the story line.
Raiding dwarves steal the Turnway’s little urchin from Snail Haven. She was a bother, so who cares? Dyrk, a miffit, certainly does not. But does he care about anything other than his own comfort? Then comes a “tap, tap, tap” at his door.
The dwarf raiders had also raided Baruch’s keep. It was he who stood at Dyrk’s door. “Well, Dyrk, are you going to be a gentleman and invite me inside, or shall we do all of our business here at the door?” There was an impish gleam to man’s eyes. “Business?” returned Dyrk. “Business? What business?” “I wish to secure your services,” said the man. “Secure my services?” said Dyrk. Puzzlement wrinkled his brow. “I did not realize that I had any services to offer.”
“You may have heard that dwarves raided my keep. Seems everyone knows. Have jaw, will rattle! Well, those dwarves have run off with a valuable treasure, a gem of great price. I would have my treasure retrieved at all cost. It is that important to me. And, I have chosen you to find the priceless jewel and return it to me.”
To make matters worse, it was rumored that the dwarves intended to sell the jewel to a witch. Well, Dyrk had no desire to leave the comfort of his home to travel to who knows where. And who was he to try and retrieve the jewel from a witch? He had no powers. But this was Baruch, and Dyrk had no choice. It was with fear and sadness that he put his feet to the road.
Have you heard of viper dragons? Dyrk had not heard of them either…until he met one! Then there was the “nobody” and Sir Blaunch. And so it was that Dyrk found himself in the midst of a perilous venture, and certainly not a comfortable one. But the worst of the worst was the Witch of Black Mountain!
Dyrk finds out life is not about his comfort.
There is your peek. But you will have to buy the book to enjoy the entire eruption of imagination called The Jewel.
