For People with Little Time to Read
Reading a Book Takes too Long!
Some time ago at a book signing event a woman told me she would buy a book but the only time she reads is when she is waiting at the doctor’s, the dentist’s, or waiting elsewhere. She told me at that rate it would take her forever to read one of my books. A teenager told me he doesn’t read books because it is boring—reading a book takes too long.
Publisher reps I have talked to have told me that they will not consider a book of less than 50,000 words. Some of the publishers require a book to be even longer. In publishing my own Realms of Light Books I have chosen to publish a line of Quick Read Books, captivating stories of 110 pages or fewer that are ideal for on-the-go teens or “waiting room” adults. Who knows, a short read might lead to longer reads.
I Don’t Read Books!
Then there are those who simply do not read books. Over the past several years I have had numerous people pick up a book and say “Looks interesting, but I don’t read books.” A Quick Read book might be a help in developing the habit of reading. After all, reading helps keep the mind sharp. We can all use that!
