The Originator of Stories
Have you ever read a biography? One of my favorites is the “story” of Adoniram Judson. Judson’s biography is story…his-story. You have a story and I have a story. Interestingly, our stories originate with our parents’ stories and theirs with their parents, and on and on.
So where does “story” begin? Who is the originator of the original story? Evolution? That is laughable! Non-intelligence does not “tell” intelligent-life stories. I hike in the desert and climb in the desert mountains and collect rocks. One might look at a rock formation and say, “This rock formation has a story to tell.” However, the rock remains silent. Rather, we tell a story based on our understanding of where the rock was found, its elemental makeup, etc.
The originator of story is God, the source of intelligence—the source of story. He is the originator of all stories in that one story is intricately connected with every other story, even though we may not readily see the connection. Why? Because all human stories go back to the first human story.
Genesis 1:1 reads, “In the beginning God.” He is the Originator. He is the Storyteller of storytellers. And He told the first human story: ‘Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”’ Genesis 1:26-28 (NKJV) So begins Adam and Eve’s story, and so begins your story and mine.
